1984 F150 Dilemma
hey, so i have a problem on my hands and am looking for some opinions.
I am the proud owner of a 1984 f150 stepside, and a f150 4x4 longbox. my first plan was to replace the cab, fix the box and put the 4x4 under the stepside but the box is in terrible shape and isnt worth repairing and we cant find a southern stepside box. So do i put a regular shortbox(fleetside) that my uncle has on the truck and continue with the plan OR replace the cab on the 4x4 truck?
Any thoughts/Personal Opinions?? Thanks

Not following you, just can't get it thru my head what you are asking. Seems to me if you want a 4X4, then fix it. If you want the other one, then fix it.

ya, i know what i said is a little confusing lol, i was just asking peoples personal opinion of what they think are a nice looking combination,
4x4longbox
4x4stepside
0r 4x4shortbox
i just don't know if i should try to hold out for a stepside box, because they have been quite hard to locate

I am partial to the 4x4 shortbed cause that is what I have.
I have a shell on so it does sometimes get mistaken for a Bronco.
I wouldn't even try to convert a 2x to a 4x4 if that is what you are trying to do? Just too many differences in the frames and suspension parts. Not to mention that all your trucks have different wheelbase lengths.

yea, our idea was to turn the 2x short box into a 4x4. we have been taking some measurements and it doesnt seem like a terrible amount of work, mainly because we already have the frame stripped. we need the drive shaft cut down and we have some friends that work for Napa AutoParts so suspension shouldn't be a problem.
Thanks for the opinion, i had noticed that, and even i have mistaken shortboxes with shells as Bronco's lol. maybe we will leave it two wheel drive probably alot easier
