Bypassing the Tank Selector Valve

Bypassing the Tank Selector Valve
86 F150 4.9L
Can't get fuel to my engine, and I think it's a bad tank selector valve (the one on the firewall). Lines are clear before and after it. Could I just take the selector valve off and run the gasline directly from my front tank to the mechanical pump (pump was put on last November)? Is this there any reason, in terms of safety or mechanics, that I can NOT do this? Thanks friends : )

Yes, you can safely plumb the fuel lines like a single-tank truck.

Anything suited to gas at low pressure is fine. Personally, I'd swap out all the rubber for hard nylon before the gasahol eats it up & fouls the carb. If you put it onto a properly-sized hose barb, it doesn't even need clamps. Just route it away, or shield it, from high temps.
