Default 82 f150

Ok so my 1982 ford f150 straight 6 cylinder 4x4
4 speed manual with 1 barrel carburetor is acting weird.
For the last day or 2 my truck revs up when I push in the clutch to change gears... It also revs up if I put it in natural while I'm driving down the road...
When I start my truck and am sitting still it will rev up for maybe 30-60 seconds and then it will drop down to normal normal.

Please help me cause I have no clue why it's doing this

How much idle hang are talking about?Start by a new fuel filter checking the vacuum lines, if they're all good you it could be the float sticking slightly.

The float does not affect idle RPM. Remove the air cleaner & gently push the carb side-to-side. If it rocks, tighten its 2 mounting nuts & check again. If it still rocks, replace the gasket below the throttle body flange. It's a known problem.

I concur with the boys above as vacuum would be the number one issue with that vintage. Those lines and gaskets have to be very brittle by now. Ford really struggled with emissions and their fuel systems in the late 70's and early 80's.
