try this site, the info was pretty helpful to me on the history of the 351. Its pretty funny that there is so many different opinions on this matter,I have talked to so many people, freinds,on web forrums,etc. I hope this site is right, because i`ve been told this is a great engin(351M/400).

I have one of these in my 78 F150 That i am redoing for my son. I have done a lot of research on this block. My findings are that half of the blocks are good and the other half are crap and have a cracking problem near the water canals. I tend to think performance is based on opinion because you can do just about anything you want to this block and make it fast. There are so many aftermarket parts for all of the older ford motors. However I defiantly would not make an 8 second strip car out of this block tho... but to each his own. Spend your money they way you would like too.
