Default 33X12" Tires on Stock Rims???

Hi all. I've done a search and can't find what I'm looking for. I have a 1986 F150 4WD. I'm getting ready to lift it 4" and have a set of 33X12" - 15" tires I want to mount on it. These are just tires for winter and horsing around, so I would like to use my stock rims if I can. The rims I have are the style that look like the Allied Steel rims, and came with the chrome rings. I assume they are the 15X8" factory wheels for a 4WD. Anyway. I'm wondering what kind of backspacing I will need to clear the 33" tires f I crank my steering all the way left to right? I'm sure plenty of you have mounted 33s on stock wheels.

Pretty sure those wheels and other Ford wheels from 80-96, if they are stock, are 7.5” wide. Yes many have placed 33x12.50s on the stock wheels. Just pay attention to your PSI in the tires and you’ll be alright to make sure all of the tread is hitting the ground well to make sure you have good tread wear. A 15x9 or 15x10 wheel would be better for 12.50s, but it’ll be ok. However on backspacing, there could be an issue. I’m using stock wheels too and have the truck leveled with 32x11.50s and my tires rub at full turn to the left and right, but just a little on the radius arms.

That's what I was looking for. Right now I have some mismatched tires. 275/75 - 15s on the front and 32X11.5s on the back. It looks like the 32s would rub on the front. I'm just gonna wait until I can find some rims with a negative offset. Thanks.

Yeah that’s what I would recommend too. Doesn’t matter how high you lift a truck, if the backspacing is around 4-4.50” it’s going to rub with such a wide tire. I think the stock F-150 wheels from 80-96 are all 4” backspacing and zero offset, but I may be incorrect due to such a wide span of year changes. But yes, a wheel with like 3.5-3.75” of backspacing will put that wheel farther away from the hub to make sure the tires don’t rub the radius arms or other front end parts.
