Default its expensive

I just did a similar swap, i swapped in a 1986 302 into an 80 f100 that had a straight six. heres a list of some things i needed. New motor mounts, New frame perches (i ordered them from jeffs bronco graveyard for about 110 bucks) correct clutch, there is a clutch bracket you will need as the straight six's bracket screws into the side of the block as the v8 bracket bolts on using bellhousing bolts. keep the thin metal flex plate off the old motor as u wil have to see which one works betters, i had to use the 302 plate and trim it to fit my i6 starter. you will need a radiator as the inlets and outlets are flipped and u cant get away with flex hoses.your accelerator linkage is different, i got mine to work but my motor has a holley 650 on it. youll need to make a coil bracket, i used a flat piece of steel about 1 inch wide and 6 inches long, bent it in a L shape and bolted it down using the farthest forward intake bolt. good luck with it man, its expensive but its worth it, all in all cost of motor included i spent 2600 on the swap but i bought some dress up stuff and some higher dollar parts.

I'm considering doing the same swap on my 81 stepside. One nice thing I noticed is that the frame seems to be drilled for the v8 frame perches. Also, can you use the same bell housing for manual trans or do you need to get a new one?

Yea it makes urban little easier already being drilled. I got my frame perches from bronco graveyard who actually had them sent from l and l performance the bell housing is no issue the only issue I had there was the flex plate needed some trimming for the starter. But ky bellhousing lined right up

Just finding this while doing research into what I have to do to get my 351 into my 85 f150, do you have a link to the motor mount perches on bronco graveyard, I found the motor mounts themselves, just can't find the perches

Do yourself a huge favor and get a firewall re-enforcement plate for the clutch set-up. They are bolt in.
