1981 Chevy k10...with Ford top-loader transmission?
So I'm back...except this time without my 79 f150..and boy is this is an odd occurrence. I'm buying a 1981 Chevrolet K10 4x4 that originally had a column shifted 3 speed manual (already unheard of in a 1981 4x4), but has been converted to a hurst floor shifter.
When looking at pictures of the transmission in the truck, it looked nothing like the Saginaw 3 speed, or any of the 3 speeds that came in these Chevrolets, because whats in my 1981 is a top-loader transmission! It has the cover on the top, not on the side, but shifts on the side.
Looking at pictures of the transmission in comparison to a Ford 3.03 3-speed top-loader, they look almost identical! Its bolted to a NP208 Chevrolet coded transfer case, and had a Chevrolet inline 6 250 engine.
Can any of you ford gurus help a previous Ford owner? I'll even admit i wish i had my 79 f150 back, just don't tell the guys at the Chevrolet forum! Thanks and here are the pics!
