Why I decided on 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 instead of 2022 F150

I agree with those of you saying that GMC has upped their game. I remember previous gen trucks weren't that great in my eyes. They always seemed 5yr behind Ford. But this time GMC has really out done themselves by modernizing the interior and look of the truck. The exterior styling is also enhanced by the new LED headlight design. I don't like Chrome, so the previous gen trucks had the big old chrome headlights, even though they had LEDs the housing still had a lot chrome. They offer a black out package but, its always looked terrible (in my eyes) with the chrome headlight.

The new headlight designs gets rid of all that, so you can get a proper blacked out look. AT4 has a black chrome grille, but the elevation model offers a true blackout package with black grille and black emblem. I know this might not be that high up on most people's list but it drastically improves the look.

What good is a truck if it is in shop for lifter issues all the time.

It looks really good for the most part. One area they failed is the half round-ish/half square-ish wheel wells. It reminds me of the 2nd and 3rd gen Tacomas.

That’s a nice damn truck for sure.

I’d almost argue that those new GMC’s look better than the Fords.

My single biggest issue is the fuel tank size on those GM trucks. It’s a deal breaker for me.

The new GMC AT4’s trucks are exceptionally good looking. The new interiors from GM are also definitely a huge step up from previous years. Two factors made me decide against a 2021 AT4 for a 21 PB Lariat.
1- while on vacation in Cabo, of all places I started up a conversation with a GM for a GMC dealer out of Indiana. In the 40-50 minutes of us talking he explained that his dealer AT4 has suffered from all of the issues that have already been addressed. He wished his truck was the odd duck but, he said he sees it in the service department stats. Most importantly he said that if he had the option to have the same job at Ford dealer he would jump on it.
2- at the time ordering an AT4 was luck of the draw. GMC would arbitrary drop features due to supply chain and you had the option to accept the truck as is or go to the back of the line. Additionally, all of my local dealers were charging a $1000 non-refundable deposit. If you decided against the truck that arrived then, you’d have to drop another $1000.

I didn’t have any of the restrictions and issues with Ford. All of these manufacturers have wards its just how quickly they get addressed and how impacting they are to your patience.

Enjoy your new ride. It looks great!

Damned nice looking truck, for sure. Over the years I've owned both GM and Ford trucks and have found them to be great vehicles. Would NEVER consider a Dodge, lol! The new styling is a huge step forward. If they had a door keypad, I'd have looked at them myself. (I just LOVE that keypad!)

The 6.2 is a beast, does sound good. Enjoy your new ride!

That’s a great truck.

I had a ‘21 at4 last summer for 7 weeks before coming back to Ford.

The ’22 is light years ahead of the ‘21 though and I’d consider another one.

You’re exactly right. I’ve never understood the square wheel well when tires are round. Looks really dumb

GMC has the looks, that's for sure. However, Ford and even Ram make a better and more reliable truck, especially if you plan on keeping it after the warranty period expires. Hell, Ford is even better than the Tundra at the moment because of how they dorked up their release and rushed a problem laden vehicle into service.
