Why I decided on 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 instead of 2022 F150
Actually, that wasn't my point. I'm reasonably well educated and don't need anyone to explain to me how something as basic as supply and demand works. My point of saying that it was "beyond" that is that the CEO of Ford and GM both publicly stated that they would stop sending inventory to dealers who they believed were screwing with the MSRP. Now, whether or not that happens in the real world is doubtful (at least to me).
They won't do that.
Even if they did, that has nothing to do with the fact that dealers charging market prices and buyers paying market prices, regardless of the manufacturer's suggestions, is supply and demand

It is only Supply and Demand driving these actions, and nothing else.
There are times when supply far outstrips demand; and it's a bonanza for consumers.
In those instances, I doubt the CEO will ask buyers to do the right thing and pay MSRP instead of taking dealer-generated rebates and incentives.
Just saying.

if there were plenty of supply and no demand, there would be no need for the CEO to attempt to reign in the troops.

We bought our 2020 Explorer in December of 2020. It was built in late June as I recall. It had been there.
We got employee pricing and 0% 72 months and a legit good value on our minivan trade (higher than carvana, carmax, or vroom would give) and a Ford factory $2k incentive on top for trading in a new-enough vehicle towards a 2020.
At the time, supply and demand were in our favor, and we price gouged the dealer even though we effectively made out way below MSRP. I don't see anybody whinging on about that.
I gave up looking for the F150 I wanted and missed the 2022 order window - this after having a 2017 XLT, 2017 501a then a 2018 502a. I hated to switch teams but I started to look at the Trail Boss and AT4. My father is retired GM so I contacted a few dealers and found one within 30 min that would honor the GM employee discount, which amounted to about $5.5k off msrp. I decided on the AT4 because I wanted the cooled seats, power folding mirrors, etc., etc. and liked the dash and interior better, so I placed an order with the 6.2. A few weeks later, dealer called me and said GM cancelled all 6.2 orders due to engine component shortages and showed me the bulletin. And they didn’t have any on their way that weren’t already spoken for. After driving the Duramax and 5.3, I was underwhelmed for $60k after the discount so back to square one. I will say the Duramax was surprisingly fun and powerful but not enough to buy it. I continued to search lot inventory but couldn’t find a 6.2 at a dealer within 300 miles with either the TB or AT4 in a color I wanted that would honor the discount. Mind you, they new the 6.2’s were limited so they weren’t budging and I wasn’t paying msrp for it when I know the discount exists..!!
After looking for another month, I found an F150 that was really close to what I was looking for so I went with it. I really always wanted another F150 but was frustrated and tried to be open minded. On top of that, the truck I bought would actually cost me just over $4k more if I bought it today because of price increases. Things always happen for a reason I guess. Anyway, glad you’re
happy, that’s all that counts.
