you have a good dealer! It really boils down to the very tech that does the job. And a good tech is hard to find nowadays, not a lot of young folks interested in automotive.

So... lots of expert advice. An offset tire makes sense...a bent wheel makes sense...a rookie tech/hmmm because modern shops have sophisticated machines to do the job. Don't pay more money. It isn't heart surgery. Take it back and ask for a redo. No aggression no blame.do it again. (maybe something else is going on and you'll resolve a safety issue before it becomes critical)

Trouble is Costco does not have a road force balancer. A road force balancer can tell the technician where to index the wheel and tire to get the lowest road force and best balance.

I agree completely that what is shown looks crazy. But, a high quality balance job can and often will have weights on opposite edges of the rim but, there would be some on the inside and some on the outside of the rim. Two plane balancing looks at each plane individually and you balance them somewhat independently. A really good balance must be two plane. In the old days you started with a bubble balance followed by very careful two plane spin balance. Things have been improved over the decades but, it still takes skill and effort to get it done properly.

Went to the other shop and got it done today, road force balanced. attached is one wheel where all it needed are 8 1/4oz on the inner plain, will craw under when I got home to check the other wheels. I specifically asked if they had to force match/index the tires and they said no, goes to show the **** job the previous shop did. Ride went back to butter smooth.
