I'm an occasional cam user in my old wheeling truck. Tend not to use is as it's a PIA by Nexar. Never stays on the windshield and has a massively long power lead.

I have a Z-Edge duel cam from Amazon for $99. Has front and rear cameras. Power for the front camera and the data cable for the rear camera are hidden and hard wired, tucked under the edge of my headliner. But the cam also comes with a 12V cig lighter plug for power which makes it easy to switch the front cam between vehicles. I travel a lot for work, and I get a rental when I travel. Had a guy run out in front of me this past Friday night just after midnight when I was coming into Birmingham, AL. Luckily I was able to dodge hitting him. I wouldn't be without a dashcam.

Edited to add:
I called the Birmingham PD yesterday to see if they would like to have this dashcam footage. They did not seem interested at all. Evidently this kind of stuff is an everyday occurrence around there

Just installed my first and went kinda whole hog. Rexing 3 Channel Mirror Cam Wanted to use Garmin but the dash cams do not work with the DriveSmart 76. Looked at others combining dash and rear view.

Currently using the accessory 12 volt for power but have a hard wire harness with fuse taps installed. I have it set to loop continuously in 1 minute files to storage on a 256 GB chip 1080x1820 on all 3 cameras.
and interior with my grizzled face,
.
Will install hard wiring soon and maybe move the rear cam to my license plate. KM

Thanks guys, got a fitcamx installed today. It really doesn't look like it's the best quality, exposed PCB board etc, will find out if it last.

I've had it since October. It's been cold and I don't often check the temperature of the dashcam. It's worked well so far and i doubt any passenger in my truck has ever noticed it -- very nicely hidden.

Do you have both the "always hot" and the switched power connected?
