Update Unsuccessful
I did not have any issues with the Auto Updates. 1.4.0 and 1.6.0. I do not know what 6 did but the 4 added the Securialert and was very apparent what it did. I started getting text mail messages telling me one of my doors had been opened. Even if it was me with fob in pocket. Getting in and then getting out. I disabled the alert. Peace and quiet now.

My truck is at the dealer for some other warranty work and I asked them to look into 1.4 update. They said the tech has been working with the Ford hotline and they were having issues with that particular update package. They are going to make a fix and send it back out OTA in the near future.
Interesting my 1.6 went through last week and then today I got the 1.4 update. Apparently they are not installed sequential which is good to know. Makes me think there is a 1.5 somewhere out there too. I would be curious to know how they roll this stuff out but I assume they probably do a staggered rollout with a small handful of trucks first only after testing on some internal mules, then gradually expand from there. The alternative is that they risk bricking hundreds of thousands of trucks with potentially flawed software updates. I would imagine there might be 3-4 weeks of float in those rollouts. Does anyone know if there is a thread tracking Power Up versions? I don't see anywhere on Fords website that shows revision history.
I have no confidence in Ford’s ability to deliver quality OTA updates even though they appear to work as intended for some of us. I would opt for manual updates every time if offered any sort of choice.
I also wish there was an actual change-log associated with these updates so I don’t have to guess if a software ‘update’ is reason why my windshield wipers now like to stop dead in the middle of each cycle when I press the spray and wash button.

Good point. Mine was also impacted by the Gateway module problem. I have not, as far as I know, had any OTA updates. Perhaps these updates are fixing problems on trucks with earlier build software; has anybody with a truck built after late April/early May had an OTA update?
There doesn’t seem to be any reason or pattern (at least that I’ve seen) to who gets what update when. I can understand that Ford is cautious about rolling them out, to avoid potentially bricking large numbers of trucks. They also might have relatively modest server architecture so they can’t do too many at once. And quite possibly they have a large fraction of unsuccessful update attempts; many people don’t have good WiFi where there trucks are parked, I bet. So the server takes up time repeatedly pinging trucks it has in queue to update. But I wish we had some way of knowing that the system was working, and talking to our trucks, rather than just always saying you are up to date, when you know there are actually updates out there you aren’t seeing.
But I guess they don’t want to put up a message “updates are available for your truck! You are number 675,453 in queue!”
This feels like the digital equivalent of ramp 59…

Yes, my update information display goes away after a day, if not sooner. My first ota was to fix the zone lighting issue. The second was to push the tsb update that the dealer couldn't get to take.
