I was able to confirm with others that the engine will turn off. On the Chevy volt to bypass this they would tie a rubber band around the shifter. Can anyone with a hybrid f150 verify that could work?

reclining chair option only comes in much higher model so that’s probably our the question.

any feedback on vinyl seats and carpet? I’m guess for what I’m trying to do that would be a good option.

if I can’t keep the hvac running then I’m going to have to turn towards the topper as my solution. I was going to get a memory foam for the cabin.

thanks for all the Input

However, I know you can put PP in gen mode and it cycles all night to keep battery charged while supplying electrical power, but A/C is not running, I don't believe. If you just idle the whole truck for A/C I thought there was a max idle time out... no?

Finally, there are a number of tent based options specific for F150. For the bed they even work with tonneau covers (folded/rolled up, of course). Then for more $ there are a number that fit on the roof. When travelling they look like a larger roof top carrier, all collapsed with a hard cover.
thanks for the input. I’m guessing I need to figure out how to keep the hvac on since I can disable the drl.

I can’t do the tent cause I’m trying to be stealth. Don’t want the Mexican cartels to see me camping. If I could camp in the cabin then I can get the 5.5 ft bed which is more appealing cause Central America cars are so small.

not going to buy a $60k truck to skimp out $30 a night. I want to be able travel across the USA and not worry about being a target to thieves. Eventually i want to drive down to Panama through Central America and even maybe ship it to Colombia and head down to Peru. I don’t want to haul a fifth wheel or have a huge pop up. I was going to do a van conversion but I think a truck is better financial investment since I’ll own a truck I could sell that would hold its value.
This is a good post everyone is worried about you going to sleep and not waking up because of CO poisoning.

So far no-one has chimed in about the trip to Panama and beyond.

For goodness sake with the F150 being on the top of the theft list for many years running were do you think a lot of those stolen vehicles end up???? Yes drug cartels in Mexico and your willing to drive directly into the heart of the situation with a rig all set up for them.?????????

I would really think about that before anything else.

My point is buy a base XL throw a cap on it and do it why spend 60K for some drug lord to have a nice rig and end up buried never to be found.

all about situational awarenes ane not making yourself a target ive Driven in mexico panama costa rica and colombia. I wouldn’t drive at night and I would pay to park at hotels. I’m hoping to retire in January and this truck will be mobile home. Obviously showering and toilet will be an issue but I think I can work around those.

since you have a 21 truck, can you confirm that the truck will turn off with the ac on if you aren’t driving?that is the last piece of info I need before I order. That and if vinyl is that bad. I saw my buddy has a 2018 platinum and even with a 5.5ft bed it’s a bug truck. So if I could get a 5.5 instead of 6.5 I could be a little more stealth. If I can’t keep the hvac running then I’ll have to get a 6.5. Guessing I should go with the smaller cab and 6.5ft if I can’t.

Cannot confirm if the AC cycles as you need.

Have to stay out of the heat and sun.

When driving the ac is on then get out and go inside, only out early mornings and in hiding by 9am.

Ive been thinking about a rear seat dog hammock to sleep in during the fall and early winter.

thanks for the info. Whenever it is convenient for you to check out the ac would be great. Honestly I never heard of a vehicle turning off from idling too long. I was thinking I would turn off the interior lights and dash and sleep in the cab. Then get a lid and put storage bins in there.

if that wouldn’t work, then Get a topper and a small ac unit. With 7.2kw worth of power I would never need propane. I could design everything to use 110v. Really would be a game changer for truck camping as long as I could find away to stay cool in the summers.

On the 12 " screen there is a setting for max idle time. Mine is set at 30 minutes which maybe a default setting. Was just scrolling thru some of the different things in my open garage the other morning.

Try this www.icybreeze.com as long as you have access to ice it seems like a possible solution to staying cool.

ok I believe there is an option to disable auto shut off everytime you start the car. If that is true then that would be awesome. https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...o-disable.html

I could use that as my camping mode. Then I could get a lid and set everything up in the back for storage. I could sleep inside the cab and cook off the tailgate. If someone with a 2021 hybrid can confirm that i would be grateful.

As previously suggested, a van or SUV is a better solution.

the DRLs don't run when the truck is in park...
