Default Rust

I have a 2021 Powerboost platinum SCREW that I bought new in Dec 2021. When I received it there was a good amount of rust that it arrived with on the undercarriage. The dealer at the time told me that is just what it is with the deliveries that year. Im 20k miles in and its getting a bit worse. Has anyone had any success with ford taking care of this under warranty? Its all over on the axle, read diff, brake rotor casings, muffler brackets etc. I took pics when I first got it but was thinking about trying at the dealer again.

Most likely surface rust. Post a picture.

Don't even screw with the dealer. Just get a can it two of black Fluid Film and spray everything that is showing rust. Within a couple of weeks it'll look new.

https://www.fluid-film.com/products/...l-non-aerosol/

If you have the natural tan color black graphic powder will make it black.

Use fluid film on about everything.

Would you mind posting your pictures for clarity? It would help to understand your challenges, and then propose a solution.

Thanks.

I have a 2022 model, and the U joint as seen in the pic below (disregard the red circled pad), has been rusty pretty much ever since I bought the truck brand new. There are other parts under there that are also rusted. I have other cars I've had for years and no rust whatsoever. Is Ford just using cheap parts or what? Btw, it pretty much never rains where I live and my truck has been driven in the rain maybe a handful of times.

Mine looked the same, I sprayed all that including the frame with amsoil HD metal protector. It not only stops the rust but it also darkens the existing rust to make it less noticeable. I tried fluid film but that doesn’t dry and seems to wash of pretty quick.

Any cast parts that are not painted etc will surface rust/oxidize just like that in the pic in my experience. You can get a can or so of Tremclad/Rustoleum semi gloss rust paint and a piece of cardboard as a spray shield to help control where it goes and have at it. Don't do it when there is any wind at all or there will be overspray all over the top sides, can be brushed on as well. I have for years just sprayed black semi gloss undercoat around the rear wheel wells/axle with good results. A second warning about overspray and wind is appropriate.. LOL.

There is special semi gloss frame paint but it is rather expensive. POR has an excellent product as well.

Rust can be caused by heavy dews nearness to salt water etc. This is mainly surface rust, and will not hurt anything. If it bothers you, and you want a fix that is easy to do use Corroseal. It will convert the rust into a flat black color polymer of some sort. I had a 2014 Jeep JKU and it was a lot worse then any Ford I ever had. I put some of the Corrorseal in a spray bottle and sprayed away. I also used a cheap paint brush on some parts. I will warn you place cardboard or something down on the driveway before you apply this or you have black spots all over. It dries pretty fast and lasts a long time.
Corroseal Corroseal
