I think this is the right place to post this.. trying to figure out what I am doing wrong, but the CS from RealTruck just keeps repeating themselves over and over...
Bought an MX4 Tonneau cover for my 2024 Raptor... followed the instructions, installed it, and realized that the panels will not latch themselves without my manually pushing the rail up a bit. RealTruck support keeps telling me that I do not have the clamp installed in the rails correctly, despite sharing several pictures that really look like they are done correctly.
Clamp install... all six look like this. After install... regardless of whether I leave the clamp bolts just past finger tight, or crank them down.. There is an angle to the rail. Once the weight of the cover is on there, and the bottom of the latches make contact, the angle is even more extreme.
I love the cover, it looks great and seem like the perfect solution.. but I'd really like to be able to drop the panel and have it latch without my having to manually fool with it each time.
The RealTruck site has shims... but they keep telling me that I don't need them.
Anyone that has installed one have any idea on what I may be doing wrong?
It appears the clamps are incorrectly installed, which will cause the exact issue you are suffering from.
The rails need to fit snug, flat and perpendicular. Yours are tilting down which prevents the latch from catching on the rail when you lower the cover.
When properly installed, the clamps should look like they do in these pics. Whichever notch fits better - use it for all 6 clamps. If you use one notch on one side and one on the other, it won't latch properly.
I thought about that too but per the Realtruck website model #448339 fits them both.
I do know from experience that the 2015-2020 covers don't fit great on the 2021+ trucks. The shape of the top of the tailgate has a lot to do with it. You can make it work, but it may/may not leak.
