getting first truck
hi guys. my apologies if this is not the correct forum to post this question, please delete if needed.
I am looking to buy a truck I could use to haul video equipment, people, electronics + tools. ..nothing big or heavy; this will be my first truck ever, and I'm extremely overwhelmed by the amount of information I have had to learn this past couple of weeks. I gotta hand it to ford, their configurator does a pretty good job at letting you pick things, but for someone who doesn't know all the jargon, it's a feat.
I am trying to pick between a well optioned lariat 502a with the powerboost engine, or a tremor 402A v8. my must haves (I think), are the ford copilot active, as I would like to be able to use blue cruise at some point, and leather interior. the lariat is more expensive by about 2k using granger pricing. is the lariat more upscale than the tremor?
I ask this because at the end of the day, I am looking to have the very best driving experience on long trips (99% highway). I understand the tremor is more of an off-road capable vehicle, but I really like the looks and if the interior is as nice as the lariat, the win goes to the tremor.
anywho, I would love to have someone guide me... I've gone over the order guide pdf to come to the conclusion that the copilot active is only available on higher trims and that ruled the most affordable XLT trim out
your thoughts, opinions, and recommendations are highly appreciated,.

I know where you are. A year ago I was moving towards buying my first truck. Getting things like adaptive cruise, blind spot warnings etc were must haves. I came to Ford, from Toyota and Honda land, because there were no Tundra's available. Ford was the only manufacturer who offered my wants at an "affordable " price.
I picked up an Xlt 302a with all the trimmings on December 31 last year. Week 1 I helped move my son to his new apartment. Week three I did my first solo Boston to Greenville SC 940 mile in a day drive. I did three more of those by July as we cleared out my in laws house. Each time the bed was filled, as was the interior with "stuff". With optional 36 gallon tank shrunk gas station visits to three on the entire trip, v seven before. If you ever tow, the 36 gallon tank will give you 470 mile range.
Wife came with me on two runs to SC , declaring it to be the most comfortable vehicle we had ever owned. I think she likes it. But won't admit it. Won't drive it, preferring to work.
Look around for a well trimmed xlt as long as it has the adaptive cruise etc. I got a V8 and don't regret it one bit over the 2.7. 3.5 was my last choice. I hadn't had fabric seats in decades. Initially expected to swap out the seat covers with Katzskin leather, but haven't. Yet. Maybe one day.
Welcome to the club. I was incredibly nervous driving it at first. So big, blind spots were different to my last car.. so many gadgets....
15000 miles later, love it!

You are comparing a Powerboost Lariat to a V8 Tremor though so it's not quite apples to apples comparison. If both are equipped with the V8, the Lariat will be at least a couple grand cheaper....and that's with the 502A package. I think the Tremor's a good looking truck (except that huge *** rake
)and with having the fancy front diff.....if I was making the choice between that and a regular non sport ...non black appearance package Lariat, I would take the Tremor 402A hands down....with the V8 of course.

I have a Lariat 3.5 eco, not power boost. I got it off the dealer lot. .It has all the bells and whistles. A few things might bother you , the B&O Unleashed speakers in the headrests and top, are just about useless. I can't hear them unless I firmly press my ears against them while my head is turned. It is a system problem that is noted here in the forum. Another issue is the Nav. not sure if it is true yet. Supposedly after a short trial period, it then becomes a paid subscription. I'll wait and see. Ford also decided to cheap out little things like rear license plate lights being incandescent, no glove box light.
But, in any event overall, I like the truck. I would definitely avoid the Unleashed and save that money, unless they are giving it to you for free.
