My update

I dropped off my truck at the dealership this morning. No loaner available but they drove me home, 35 minutes away. They called me this afternoon. Since my 23 is not listed in the safety recall because of the 6/23 build date, they are replacing just the one axle that has the broken bolt, under warranty. I’m fine with this for now. I have trips coming up. I’m sure I’ll eventually be eligible for the finalized recall in 25. They said they are having computer issues with ordering the axle from Ford but they said they will try to get one from another dealer tomorrow and fix it tomorrow. We’ll see what happens. They also updated the ac module according to the TSB. My ac crapped out twice last summer but not since. I’ll report back when it’s done.
Yep - but many will keep coming on here saying it "must be resolved" because later trucks are unrecalled. Our trucks weren't caught in the first round, but they expanded it were finally covered. What a joke.

I spoke with the dealer later today. They're getting the axle tomorrow so if early enough it will be finished tomorrow.

Default Add another 2023 to the list

Build date 7/23.I’m not sure what constitutes the HDPP, mine has the 7050# GVWR package plus Max tow. 3.55 Rear end

mine was not recalled

I purchased it in October 2023. Since then I have flat towed behind my motorhome about 15,000 miles. I’ve driven it just over 10,000, so the odometer reads 10,000. I don’t recall when I first noticed the noise, but it’s at least been four or five months ago. It sounded like a couple of pebbles in a hubcap (if I had hubcaps) Yesterday took it to the local dealer for its 10 K service and told them about the noise. I found out that I have a broken bolt on the passenger side.

I have an appointment for December 16 to have them evaluate, and apply for warranty approval. They said I will have to leave it there for three days. They will take pictures, and submit it to Ford, etc. I don’t understand why they couldn’t have just taken pictures yesterday, but they said I was in the “quick lube“ shop not the “heavy” shop. Then, they said, I will pick it up, make another appointment for the repair, and will have to leave it for a few more days.

it does not sound like they have a handle on this problem yet and I’m wondering how long till the driver side breaks and I have to go through this again

For 2023s, the recall only affects vehicles built on or before 12/25/2022. Most 2023s should have been built after that date. So there should be plenty of folks out there who have 2023s with the MaxTow package, but who have not been affected by the recall. This includes 2023s with the Heavy-Duty Payload Package (HDPP), because that had to be ordered in conjunction with MaxTow for 2023.

There is some reason to suspect that Ford changed the rear axle design after 12/25/2022, and that later 2023s do not have the axle bolt. If you happen to have a 2023 MaxTow or HDPP and no recall notice, would you mind checking? It's easy to do, you just take a small screwdriver and pop the little Ford-branded cap at the center of the rear wheel. On my 2023 HDPP (built in November 2022 and recalled), you can easily see the axle bolt after removing the cap (see pic below). Would love to compare with a 2023 MaxTow or HDPP built after 12/25/2022.

If there is in fact a bolt-less rear axle design for newer 2023 MaxTows, then presumably those of use with older 2023s (and 2021s and 2022s) will be getting it with the recall.

Mine was built in September 2023 and mine just broke today at 30,000 miles lol no recall either

So mine is a 2023 that was not covered under the recall, but did have a bolt break that was repaired under warranty. Now that the permanent fix has been offered, do you think I’ll be able to get my truck repaired with the new (recall) fix?

just because my truck wasn’t recalled, it’s obvious the problem continued, and only seems right that they fix it now versus having a break after it’s no longer on warranty
