I’ve worn out the Google machine researching adding a brake controller to my 2021 F150. Ford geniuses removed the ability to add an aftermarket controller to 2021 models but after catching a lot of flack they added to wiring back into trucks built after August of 2021. They now provide a harness in the glove box that plugs into a connector near the drivers side kick panel and an aftermarket controller is easily wired in.

If you’re an early 2021 owner like myself, you’ll find the OEM controller kits are unobtainable right now and that’s if you can even sort thru the conflicting info on Fords website as to which one your particular truck needs. Your only options are to scour salvage yards for the OEM ones that are littered with issues and recalls. Or go with a Curt Echo unit.

From what I can tell, there is only one OEM trailer brake controller available for my 2021.

I would much rather find an OEM one than have an aftermarket one hanging down under the dash.

 

The OEM set up is the way to go. Plenty of choices of controller if Etrailer (who I despise after one bad experience) is to be believed. You might also consider the wireless Curt set up. aftermarket brake controller
