Look on ebay there is a dealer here in Texas selling at 1/2 the cost of my dealer and free shipping.

I suppose I need to factor in standard 5000 mile oil change intervals (some go more but its easy math). That's $1000 in 100,000 miles. So an extra 4k in 100k miles. Still about the value of two extended warranties. How many miles a year do you run?
From reading his posts, my guess is the OP changes a new vehicle's oil after the first thousand miles (not a bad idea; it used to be recommended to change new vehicle oil after the first 500-1000 miles), and then follows the normal oil change schedule from there on. I do not read it as he changes the oil every thousand miles of driving for the life of the vehicle as it would seem you read it. As noted, that would be expensive, not to mention time-consuming, and idiotic.

That's why I stopped doing it myself and started paying the dealer to do it, and I don't have to worry about the old oil. I think it's worth the extra 25-30 a year to avoid the PITA! Of course you have to hope the guy doing it knows what he's doing which can be a crapshoot.

Default Intelligent oil monitor question

I am new to ford trucks, got a 2019 f150 diesel , I do mostly short drives , about 9 miles each way, got the truck in July and the monitor went from to 100% to 8% in 2700 miles , I changed the oil but I think it is a very short interval, I was ok just because I believe the first Oil change sooner than later to catch the metal shavings and debris from a new engine. But I was expecting the oil indicator north of 5-7k miles .

appreciate input
