Whipple Supercharger install options DFW Texas
 

I was looking to purchase a supercharged 2018 F150 but the ready-built dealer models are stupid expensive for just a base XL or XLT truck.
I'm now looking at buying a normal 2018 F150 super cab 5.0 and have an authorized dealer install the Whipple. I originally wanted an RCSB but you simply cannot get one with hardly any features on it.

I'm having trouble finding DFW area shops that first are authorized to do the install and second have some experience in doing it.
Maybe have to broaden to Houston or elsewhere.

I have found the Ohio and Tennessee dealers who do the whipple packages but with the distance and having a trade they just are not ideal.

Anybody have advice for me?

I probably could do it myself from a mechanical capability standpoint.
But... I do like the idea of buying the 3-36 warranty you get from an authorized installer. I know the value of that is subjective to some but I like the idea of being covered at least for awhile.

Doesn't have to be a Whipple authorized dealer.

Whipple's warranty states "ASE certified Technician"

Almost any repair shop or ford dealer can do it and qualify for the warranty.

Thanks Ripper, I honestly did not know that. It does give me a lot more options.
I prefer a dealer that has done one or two vs someone that has never done one and doesn't know all the little tricks specific to the upfit.

I see from your signature that your truck is supercharged.. Do you like it and how it drives? After having done it to a 2018 Platinum is there anything you would do different if you could start over?

I'll chime in as I was in the same boat dannytexas. In Florida, I was lucky that there were quite a few great options for shops that would do an install w tuning, TVS and ID Motorsports included, let alone PBDyno and Kesatie. I got quotes from several of them. In the end, I had Sarasota Ford do my install as the pricing was right and I maintained the dealership warranty. The key to making that happen was locating a truck that would work (this took almost 3 weeks alone) and then going through the build with their custom department (707 Performance). Had I bought this same truck "off the lot" it would have cost $15,000 more than my build did. They were VERY enthusiastic about doing the build, and did everything in their power to make it happen at a price that would work for me. My advice would be to find the dealer in your area that always has lifted or custom vehicles on the lot new for sale, and talk to them about what you want to do. The margins on the custom stuff are huge for dealerships, so there is a lot of wiggle room.

My other thoughts are to order exactly what I want from Ford RCSB 4x4 XLT magna 3.55 ELD and when it gets here drive it a few weeks to break in.
Then offer a weekend get-away for some of these Texas guys like TX-Ripper to come to Dallas and help me do the install in my garage.
I could offer a free night hotel at hilton around my house, food & beer and $750. cash for the turn key install with me doing equal amounts of work.
Obviously the warranty will be gone at least on the powertrain but its way cheaper than buying a Roush or other dealer prepped specialty dealer.

If you are worried about the warranty (its always a gamble but many of us have seen no failures - so we rolled the dice) just run the Whipple tune.

It is very conservative to the point its way too slow for the power it produces.
