Default BDX or X4 which should I get?

For those that have used both tuners or have friends with one or the other to compare, which is thepreference and why? They both cost the same. Any advantages or disadvantages? I'm buying today and leaning toward the X4.

For what engine?
If Ecoboost, I'd say Ngauge over either.

SCT is trash and so is their customer service. NGauge all the way (Yes, I have a BDX, it randomly works, turns off, day to night brightness doesnt work) and they tell me "it's a software issue, we are working on it". 4 months now and no resolution. Its under warranty and they still won't replace it. JUNK company and JUNK tuner.

I bought the SCT x4 several years ago, still works perfect. Never had to call anyone because it has always worked.

Ok and I'm not looking to leave it connected and mounted in the truck. I just want it to push tune to the truck, remove it, and then I'm stashing it someplace in the house. I might monitor for a bit before doing that but not long. I have read negative reviews about quality of both devices here but it has to hold together for the occasional time I want to re-tune a couple times a year maybe. I also see Bully Dog and SCT are like mirror sites and companies as if Bully Dog brand is a marketing exercise for SCT tunes and tuners. Same tune, same unit, same price, same website even with minor differences. I am wondering in regards to warranty of the unit it makes more sense to buy one from a vendor like 5 Star instead of directly from SCT or not. But they are for sale a discount right now ( both BDX and the X4 ) from both SCT and Bully Dog.

I have the BDX and use it the same way that you intend to. I haven’t had any issues thus far. Unless you’re planning on using the tune that comes loaded on the device, it will be less expensive in the long run to buy the device through whoever you’re getting the tunes from. Buying the device from SCT and then buying the tunes separately will add up quick.

I've owned an X4, now have a GTX, and I recommend a solution from HP Tuners without question, and that doesn't mean nGauge....as I hate those too.
