Default Supercharger and thermostats

For those running a supercharger, or more specifically a Whipple, are you running the factory thermostat or did you install a lower temp thermostat? Here in central Texas a majority of the summer is triple digit weather and I was thinking about installing a thermostat that was 20 degrees lower. Just curious to hear what the rear of yíall in the club are running.

Iím running the lower temp one Whipple sent with the kit. The 18ís didnít get one?
My temps hover around 185 give or take a couple and itíll move into the low 190ís on a hard run or extended 90+ mph driving. Thatís what the dash shows with the actual temps enabled with Forscan anyway.

I have the Stage 2 kit and it did not come with a lower temp thermostat.

The 170 isnt needed in the 2018, and it will lower your fuel economy.

The factory t-stat is a 180 fyi

Why would lower temp T-stat decrease mileage?

Engines are generally more efficient the warmer they are, to an extent of course. He might also be referring to an open/closed loop issue if the engine doesn't get warm enough.
I personally like my engines to be between 195-200, and my factory t-stat is not cutting it despite an aggressive fan profile and a large vent cut in my hood (supercharged truck). So I bought a reische t-stat a couple days ago and will be installing soon.

Dustin Whipple claims 20 engine horse power can be gained on the 2018+ f150 and mustangs by replacing the thermostat.

Says the reason the whipple kits donít ship with them is due to CARB compliance.
