Stainless steel 5.0 y-pipe for 2015+ trucks.....finally
 

So those of us waiting for a stainless steel y-pipe option for the 2015+ trucks, need not wait any longer. AFE seems to have finally started making a 15-19 y-pipe in stainless. Previously for the 15+ trucks it was only MAK Performance. During my search I also located another option from SPD Performance, their pipe is aluminized steel that is ceramic coated. The AFE y-pipe comes catted or uncatted in 409ss, and it looks well made with smooth bends and a nice collector. However it is double the price of the MAK pipe.

So these are the current y-pipe options I'm aware of for the 2015-2019 trucks. MAK is $369, SPD is $425, and AFE is $777.

There is a 10% discount code on the AFE website if you sign up for their newsletter, but even still its twice the cost of the MAK....but is it twice as good? Probably not.

I have the MAK on my ecoboost truck (not the same as the 5.0 i understand but it's almost the same) and it's been just fine. Goes on easy enough and slides together easy enough.

After much thought I bought the AFE y-pipe. I had for a moment almost gone with a full set of headers, but the install is a nightmare and I don't want to deal with that right now....I split the difference and overpaid for a fancy y-pipe lol. AFE also makes a new set of shorty headers for the 15+ trucks...so down the line if I want to add headers they'll blend right in with the y-pipe.

I'll post some pictures compared to stock when I put it on. I'm reworking everything on the truck, new pulley, pump, injectors, intake, exhaust and tune, so it'll be a minute till its all together.

AFE Pipe was delivered today. Its not installed, got backtracked with projects and I'm currently working on the Stifflers traction bars. However I did open up the box....which was packed poorly, and examined the y-pipe. It's clearly 400 series stainless as advertised, and it is a good design, with a nice merge into a large 3.5" collector and only requiring 1 exhaust clamp minimizing the risk of leaks. I'll comment later on the fit and finish, as Its gonna be another week or so till I get it installed. Still waiting on a new resonated mid pipe to get delivered, as my truck is already loud as hell and I'm worried it'll cross the threshold into obnoxious when I pull the cats. In the mean time, here are some pictures.

Some of the Mustang guys say the O2 sensors bung need to at an angle if your running catless and E85. It looks like at least one of yours are that way. Has anyone else ever heard this?
