If 5star is shifting the 5.0s at 7000 rpm then their tune is a competitor

That's moving out for a crew cab. I believe the only weight reduction was the rear seats were removed and the race stars are probably a little lighter than stock.

So with the 10 speeds. Say someone want just a basic 87 performence oriented tune. Can you change the transmission to actually use every gear. I love the sport mode but hate how it will hang it gears for so long

We can definitely write a custom 87 Performance tune that would command it uses all gears if you'd like. I know on the earlier 5.0L trucks we've had customers say they like Sport mode's improved throttle response but that they also didn't care for the way it hangs the gear shifts like you had mentioned. So I know we also offer a custom tune revision on the previous years that can make the trucks have Sport mode throttle feel in all driving modes as well. I personally have not seen any Sport throttle in all driving modes requests on the newer 10 speed trucks as of yet, but I could always check on that for you as well if you'd like.

If you did decide to get the tuner we do also offer free shipping if you add the suction cup holder as well!

Just an update, I had a change of heart and returned my new 5.0l and got a new 2018 3.5l ecoboost. I am a changed man for sure, this thing is a beast. Contacted 5 star tuning and they are changing my old 5.0l tunes to 3.5l EB tunes so I will keep ya'll posted how those wake up this new truck. I was a firm believer of "no replacement for displacement" before, but I am convinced of the ecobeast's power now. Looking forward to also seeing how this thing tows as compared to the 5.0l.
