might be hard to do...the place I try to do it is pretty bumpy and not all that safe, but we'll see

I decided to make a minimal log file showing what I think are the importan details...rpm/gear commanded/rpm drop off at actual shift

I think I forgot to turn off the traction control and the advance track. The graph dips right at the start after the wheels start spinning.

So I talked to Matt (tuner) and the log files I gave him with just the limited parameters are perfect to do what we want. He suggested a targeted shift point of about 6900 rpm, at least until we install the '18 mustang gt balancer. So, I made the decision to install the balancer, and then target a little higher shift point after it's installed, instead of tweaking them now and then again after the balancer is installed. I'm thinking with the balancer, perhaps a target rpm of 7100 to 7200...

I understand that currently there's no proof that the '18gt balancer will help the opg's to survive, however after reading the links from engineermike from ford engineering, that is the purpose of the balancer, to reduce torsional harmonics at the front of the motor. Besides, if I don't try it, how we will find out? I know it's against the advice that some have given me and all advice is appreciated, but that's the plan of action for now. In summary:

Install '18gt balancer and then target shift points around 7000 to 7200 rpm.

Thanks to everyone's input via posts and pm's. It is very much appreciated.

I'm glad you brought this converse o light. I've been doing extensive logging after my cam install but mainly with my NA tune and it's pretty dialed in but I haven't spent a lot of time logging my nitrous tune, outside of 3rd gear and 4th gear pulls up to a certain RPM. I logged while in drive and got a few shifts in and also realized that I'm shifting quite a bit early. Shifts were Happening at around 6400-6500 or so. Hopefully my tuner can adjust before Friday when I hit the track.

well I like the x4, but little did I know it can save only one recorded file at a time. anytime I record a file, I have to download it to my laptop before I record a different or limited file as I was hoping. so, any effective logging (at least the way I envision it) will require hauling the laptop to the track with me.

perhaps if the ngauge held more than one file or I could just switch sd cards, then it would be more of a benefit than the x4.

That's where a ngauge shines. (And you can swap hptuners tunes without a laptop, ie daily, towing, race gas, e85)

Tap start log, and then stop when your done.

It names them in numerical order and holds as many as your sd card has space for.
