Ready for a tune for my 2018 f150 Roush
I know i should probably let the warranty expire, and i dont race my truck but i want the most i can get out of the supercharger. I have access to 93 octane at local gas station. I found a tuner thats about 90 minutes from me .......... This is all new to me , what questions should i ask the guy doing the tune? Should i get a tune from ID Motorsports or 5 Star?
Anything you can share with me i am grateful for. Pat

Give Palm beach dyno a call. they have the F150 dialed in. They can remote tune your truck and the process is easy. I gained 50rwtq over the stock whipple tune. Tell Dom Mike M sent you. trust me and go with a tuner that knows our vehicle. These guys are one of the top coyote engine tuners in the country.

I am scared to death to tune my Roush SC. I drive pretty conservative but when I put my foot in it I want it to do what it is supposed or do. I don’t want to blow a hole in the block. So will I be ok with a tune? I have no other mods done. I am told as my truck gets hotter the Roush tune pulls out boost. Is this true? I run 93 octane every day. What to do? If a tune would really wake it up I am game. But I don’t want to be on the edge.

Mine hasn't exploded, and its been tuned on 93 with a aggressive 72mm pulley and numerous other mods without issue, just rolled past 32k miles. It is all in the tune and getting hooked up with a competent tuner. I had a stock Roush Stage 1 truck and was not happy....mainly due to the speed limiter. I tuned, went with a stage 2 pulley (75mm) and was very very happy with the results, running a best of 11.65 (in really good air). That was stock everything aside from a single 3" Corsa exhaust. That was the sweet spot, and everything I've done since then has not really increased my enjoyment and has only made the truck marginally faster.
What year is your truck? If it is a 15-17, then I suggest you install the Roush heat exchanger fan kit which will help with heatsoak. The stock Roush tune does not pull boost, there really isn't a means to do that, but it does pull lots of timing as it gets hot and as the intake air temperatures climb. The other thing I suggest is a 170* thermostat, which will help with knock prevention on a custom tune and keep the fans quiet.
As for a tuner, take your pick...a stock Roush re-tune is not hard and anyone could put you one together. I went with ID Motorsports, but there are lots of options.
