Default Pulley size, is this smaller pulley safe to run?

Couple of questions for you guys…..I have a 2015 F-150, I’ve had the whipple supercharger installed for about a year now. The kit shipped with a 3.875 pulley. I want to go with a 3.625 pulley. Whipple said the only size they recommend is the 3.75. Are they being conservative? I live in South Carolina, I have 93 readily available. I tow about twice a year. Will I be safe going with the 3.625 pulley? I have the stock throttle body, so will this change even make a difference? Will I be ok with the whipple tune or will I need a new tune? This is a daily driver so I’m interested in reliability. I read someone was running a 3.5 with no issues, but I can’t remember who.

Thanks

I run a 3.5 on my Gen 3/2016 truck. I’m custom tuned for it though and have the fuel system bolstered to give it the fuel it needs at 14-15psi.

3.625 is fine

3.5 can be run with good 93

I ran the 3.5 on my 2015 and 93. It would be better if you could log and see where the timing is running.

Gonna bump this thread back up - what's the general consensus for pulley size on 91 octane? I'm looking at taking advantage of the Black Friday sales and picking up a Gen 3 Whipple kit with the bigger throttle body and fans for my '15 and the best fuel I can get in this region is 91 octane at the pump. Can I drop down to a 3.625" pulley on the whipple calibration and still be OK on the 91? Another thing I'm taking into consideration is the density altitude here in MT, which varies from 5-6000 in the summers down to 1000 or less in the winters. I used to pulley down a size on my Mustang in the summers to make up for it. I rarely do any towing if at all, but figure I can easily swap pulley sizes if needed. Any input?

I would get the 3.625 pulley or You could start with the 3.750 and work your way down.

I don't know a lot about this pulley fuel stuff, that's why I asked here. I have since changed from the 3.875 to the 3.625 pulley with no problems as the guys here have stated. Since I have the stock throttle body, I don't know if this has helped power wise although it feels like it. I always run 93. Is whipple discounting their kits for black Friday?

General rule of thumb for pd blowers is +10 hp and +1 psi for every 0.1" decrease in pulley size.

Not to mention it’s weird on some trucks...like mine. The 3.5” pulley is supposed to be 13psi...mine will tag my warning light at 15psi and the data logs back it up.
