anyone used the pedal commander for '18 5.0
I'm not happy with the throttle lag and shift strategies of my '18 5.0 with 10spd. and I'm trying to decide what I want to do about it. I would like to put a tune on it but I'm worried about voiding the warranty. I'm hearing the pedal commander might be a fix for throttle response, don't know if it'll help shift points and gear hunting. It supposedly can be removed when truck is being serviced and won't affect the warranty...not so sure about that. It's supposed to work with tuners as well so I thought it might still be useful If I decide to put a tune on the truck later. Does anyone have experience with the pedal commander?

I used the JMS Pedalmax on my 15 Mustang GT and loved the way it worked. I used it with and without tune with no conflict. Unfortunately it only worked for about a year before it started malfunctioning and causing the wrench light when at full throttle. I took it off and just accepted the pedal response from my tune which was honestly pretty good. So far on my 18 F150 I am pretty happy with my 5star tune in sport mode in terms of pedal response. It certainly could be better in normal mode but the softer response probably helps with fuel mileage so I'm good with just switching to sport when I want the sharper response. I believe without a tune you will really like the way the response is with the pedal commander. Not sure how they hold up compared to the Pedalmax. Obviously it can't change the shift strategy though. Only throttle sensitivity. You can easily unplug it if it malfunctions or you need to take it in to the dealer.

Wow...only worked a year!.Definitely don't like hearing that the pedal commander comes in at $300+. How do you like your tune? I would really like to get a tune but I am worried about warranty issues and am scared to pull the trigger on it.

5 Star also offers an extended warranty you can purchase for a decent price. Basically if for whatever reason the dealership deems that your tune caused the issue five star steps up and takes care of it.

I don’t have a 13th gen OR a 5.0 but I do run a Pedal Commander on my ‘13 3.5 and love the response. It’s been installed for quite some time and has not given me any problems. I recently added a tune ( only a canned, 93 octane tune ) and am still running the PC with it. I did have to back down the setting on the PC though. I always ran it on “Sport +4” but it was a little too sensitive after the tune. All in all, pretty happy with the Pedal Commander.

It sure is a “night and day” difference. The drive by wire throttle lag that is built into these newer vehicles is rediculous. Have you tried playing with the different settings yet?

Yes I've been playing with it a little today. Definitely did away with lag. It's like a different truck...sport + is pretty touchy so far I'm liking sport +4
