nGauge question for 2018 5.0

When you guys that have tuned a 2018 with an nGauge, did your unit give an option for the 2018 5.0? The one I received only list 2015-2017, and will not read my stock tune. Furthermore, it gives a parking brake and hill decent error on my productivity screen until I unplug it from the OBD port.

Not a very promising start.

Did you update the device?

No, there are instructions that it is updated and not to do so.

I'd verify that it is, seems odd you'd get sent a unit that isn't even updated to work with your year truck.

I think those errors happen when tunes are flashed or read in general, or at least that has been my experience. After the flash is done and you cycle the ignition off and then on, they go away.

It should still read of course, so definitely check the current firmware version. I think mine is on 20XX and later ford PIDs, there was not a specific set of PIDs for the 2019. FWIW, its the same option as my raptor was, and this one is a 5.0.

It was apparently a conflict with Android Auto, I disabled it, and was able to read my stock file. I'm hoping they will work together, as I want the gauging functionality of the unit after the tune is on it.

I also found the 2018-19 5.0 option, I just had to scroll down further, that was on me.

Ive had zero issues with mine. I had a gearhead tune on my raptor that I flashed with it. The screen resolution kind of sucks, but that’s my only gripe about it. I love having the red to green LEDs across the top to tie to your most critical data, mine is on knock retard. The logging is easy. The only other option to have that many values displayed at once is a pair of the banks gauges, or a Bluetooth connection to a phone or iPad on the dash.

Yeah, I tried the OBD2AA app, I couldn't get it to display Torque readings on the Sync 3 display, that would have been cool, but I wasn't able to get it working.

I have my iPad mounted above my sync 3 with a combination of a tray mount from Builtright Industries and carbon fiber arms and a 3d printed ipad bracket from 67designs (I highly recomend all of the above btw). I messed with the torquepro app, and it works fairly well. But in the end, I'd rather have a hard mounted gauge for engine monitoring than going through a couple of steps to an app or whatever. Besides, waze/spotify/netflix...
