Is a new exhaust necessary
I have a 2017 2.7l screw. I am putting on an aftermarket CAI. Is a new exhaust necessary to expel the extra air that the CAI is taking in? I would like to keep the stock exhaust. Can the stock exhaust handle the extra volume of air. I find aftermarket exhausts sound like garbage on the ecoboosts

An aftermarket CAI will not noticeably flow any more air than the factory CAI intake you already have.

Help at what? If an aftermarket CAI doesn’t flow anymore noticeable volume than the factory CAI does then an aftermarket exhaust is not needed. Without upgraded turbos I don’t see the factory CAI or exhaust being an issue.

The wieght loss in your wallet will have as much effect on performance as the CAI/exhaust.

First of all, I have seen dyno testing that shows a 10 RWHP gain just with a drop in filter on a tuned 2.7, and that same vehicle had 0 gain on the factory ecu tune.
I have also seen dyno testing that with a CAI and catback on a stock 2.7 is good for 20rwhp and 20rwtq.
That shows to me that on a factory untuned truck, a CAI wouldnt do much at all. The exhaust does more. But I can understand 100% your desire to not modify the exhaust. You dont need an exhaust at all on these trucks for any additional airflow needs. They flow more than enough from the factory.
I would do a drop in filter, and a conservative tune from a reputable ecboost tunder, and get your best bang for the buck on mods.

I am by no means an expert on this.. but having a good flowing exhaust will help with turbo effectiveness... I don't know with the fords and how well the o.e. exhaust is but with most other manufacturers there is a downfall some where with the exhaust
