I was also using the tow/haul setting on my F-150. But yeah to answer your question it’s fantastic with and without a pull behind.
I just ordered mine today. I thought when I spoke with Tim he recommended for me to not tow with the performance tune? Sounds like you are towing with no issues.

Yeah, you don't want to be towing much with the straight performance Tunes, anyone who does or tells you it's OK is fooling themselves. There's a very good reason they offer perf/tow tunes

Good to hear ya sorted it out and got your wanted performance.
The difference tween canned tunes and custom written is surprising. I drive a light weight 2wd RCSB, and it's fun to scary with caned tunes depending on weather. SE WI is widely variable, I want to stay near stock size and with mild off road tread pattern the canned BCB tune is more than enough, the customized performance tune only sees dry pavement in moderate temperatures. For one heat, higher boost which leads to higher temps, you don't want to be dragging a 7k lbs trailer up a summit for several miles holding 20 psi boost .
One of the multiple other reasons is also torque converter management.
Actually a few months ago There was a guy on here with pretty much a brand new F-150 3.5 EcoBoost who was Towing around 8,000 pounds on his 93 performance tune that blew his engine.

I have a 3.5 eco 2017 and I am still waiting for the turbo upgrades to catch up. You can only find them for 15-16 models. I went the CAI route and got a Flowmaster DeltaForce with the inline tune addon then a caned 93 tune that I still need to revision as well as borla dual exhaust and I am seeing over 100+ HP boost on my ODB2 real-time scanner. I’m now looking at new throttle body and spacer to get more power there. The stock throttle body is designed with mpg in mind and not HP.

My 2012 F150 Eco was tuned by 5star and then again by MPT. I like MPT tunes much better on the Ecoboost. Truck runs smoother and shifting is better with MPT. 5star was shift happy and MPT shifts more like driving a diesel.

Probably because they bring the torque in a lot harder at low rpm. I think the philosophy has moved away from massive low end torque, due to the stress it puts on the engine, and more towards ramping the torque in at a little higher rpm
