It's essentially a tumble valve that gives the air some velocity when there's very low flow.

In the mapped point system on the trucks there's 13 mapped points for closed valve and 13 mapped points for the open valve (some are transition mapped points on both sides)

This is all speed density on the trucks, so messing with the valve or it's settings can throw torque errors if you don't also disable the mapped points associated.

The noise would be gone but I'd suffer MPG and who knows what else.
hello, my 2019 does the same thing have you found a fix for the noise. Thanks

Reasons were simple; on my 2016, the loss of torque from 3k to 5K was noticeable (may have been other factors, but the manifold was the main variable). The 2018 MGIM on the 2016 did scream to 7200rpms, and did allow the engine to ingest enough nitrous to break a piston...…Also, I don't have to get into it with the Ford dealer when I go in for whatever issues while under warranty, as it's a stock appearance part. It's a bit cheaper too, but not really a factor when trying to squeeze every last bit of power out of the coyote.

On the 2018, with just a tune, the truck pulls as cleanly to 6800 as the MGIM, and has better low and midrange (thank the 2018's higher comp and DI). One thing I have not seen is a comparison of both the 2018 Manifolds. As mentioned, once it arrives, the ported F150IM will be paired with an OZ Omega tune, resonator delete pipe (installed), and an S&B CAI (not here yet).

When shifted at 6800, I couldn't help but notice the rpms drop back to 5500 in 1st, and higher for each gear after, so the MGIM should be the winner, in theory from a roll. Pretty much any showdowns around here take place from a dig, and I figure the ported truck mani will match or beat the (non ported) MGIM.

That said, that leaves me with a spare 2018 F150IM, and coincidentally my 2016 might not get sold for a while (was planning on selling it and DW's car for a wrangler, turns out they are not crash safe, cheezy fiat chrysler , so, I wonder how much of the improved revs on the 2018 are directly attributable to the manifold? Maybe the hot setup is the ported F150 mani for both? I am not wishing I hadn't sold the nitrous system off the truck.....
is the plan to install the 2018 manifold onto your 2016? I would love know the results of that. Is there anything you can think of that would hinder positive results? Where do you think one would see any gains in the power band?

Found a 19 Truck manifold for 50.00 bucks figuring it will help the top end pull. Are those of you running ported intakes doin it yourselves or sending it out? I tried finding a youtube video on this but no luck.

What year do you have? Very interested to know the before/after results. A buddy of mine is considering this swap on a 16, but is looking for more info..

At bare minimum get some good before and after logs.

Way better choice than the mustang mani imo.

Would you mind sharing either here or PM the PIDs recommended? I have a config file I created to include Ethanol %, FPM %, MAF Counts so far.

Sold both my 5.0's and all the parts, The 2018 mani on my 2016 was a total and complete waste of time based on the measured results. My fastest times were on the stock mani with my 2016. The 2018, I never mani swapped it, it was a turd and in the shop constantly, and now it's gone.
