There is one on eBay for just under 200 currently. Although I'm not sure who could do the porting on that plastic around where I live.

Posting in this thread since you guys are talking about the part that is a huge pain in my ***. Dealer just had my truck 10 days because of it and its still not fixed.
Figured out the clunk on acceleration (torque increase) and deceleration (torque decrease) of my 2018 5.0. The valve for the intake runners is vacuum driven. Its closing/opening too hard creating a noise (also a blip in my torque band). Got a new one. Still does it. I unplug this in the picture and clunk goes away... this isn't the fix of course as I can hear the vaccum sucking and check engine light comes on but the clunk goes away. Someone elses made this youtube video... listen to it at 11 seconds

This is on Coyote 5.0.. front of intake manifold

Put a Whipple on and throw that intake in the recycling bin.

Sorry there's a smart *** in every crowd.

Seriously, that is interesting.

Buddy at dealership told me he just got 2 other 5.0's that are doing the identical thing. Even had one today that didn't clunk, updated it, started clunking.

Sorry to revive an older topic and same noob questions but I’m lost...

i have a ‘12 f150 5.0 I’m wanting to do a 18 f150 manifold swap because I don’t have gt cams. What is needed/required?

do I need lockouts? Do I need a harness? I inderstandnill have to drill the MAP sensor but what else is required?

If you don't have upgraded cams in your Gen 1 F150 Coyote DO NOT bother with the manifold swap. You'll give up power everywhere and won't have access to the RPM range where the 18 GT is useful.

I'm bumping this thread because I'm still fighting this. It's driving me nuts. Clunks all the damn time! Very predictable. Everyone that rides in my truck comments on it. My coworker said his does it to. Has anyone made any progress? I'm thinking of reprograming the module to only close the IMRC on idle and open off idle. The noise would be gone but I'd suffer MPG and who knows what else.

It is loud, and it’s louder if you have a CAI. My experience with “locking them out” (deactivation in the tune) is minimal with regards to power or torque. Emissions probably and mileage an unlikely maybe.
The function of locking them requires nothing more than the tune change, as they are physically open until vacuum closes them. The lockouts that are sold are just a ripoff.

I originally thought that IMRC was something like a variable length runner, but it’s not. It’s almost like a butterfly valve that closes (mostly) or opens. I’m not sure what purpose they serve, but I don’t think it’s as significant as, say, tivct.
