Just sharing my experience on the PMAS from the mustang 5.0. I had both the JLT and the PMAS. The JLT was built with much better quality and using the same dyno and supporting mods, they made the same power. Lund did the tuning in both cases. I was pretty disappointed after hearing all the PMAS hype that I made no extra power after spending another $350 especially when the filter adapter fell apart after only 3 months and I had to glue it back together! Needless to say when I traded my 15 GT in for an 18 GT I went back to the JLT and couldn't have been happier. I'm not going to bother with more then a drop in on the truck since my intention is to whipple it sooner or later.

Anyone have any insight as to why various supposedly reputable shops sell lockouts for any of these manifolds? They default wide open, total scam imo.

When I pulled my 2018 manifold I checked out the imrc just to understand how it works and they don’t do what I thought. I assumed it was variable length runners but they are more like individual throttle bodies. I have no idea what advantage there is to locking them out.

i can tell you one thing, since both the truck 18 5.0 and the mustang gt 5.0 have similar imrc functionality, when you put the mustang manifold on the truck it doesn't have any crazy issues like bucking or breaking up like other manifold swaps on some other 5.0's.

They seem to be more about swirl than anything, not at all like a variable length runner. My beef with the aftermarket is selling a part to "lock out" a part that is wide open by default.
It seems completely an idle quality, light throttle efficiency / emissions thing to me.

Here's the results from today. 5th gear pull (6th gear reads 10 HP higher)

Clearly big gains. Also that's the stock tune on the 18 gt manifold so it hates the cam timing way down low.

2018 truck all runs with mustang manifold. You can see without a tune the stock cam angling being commanded down low is way way wrong for the mustang manifold.

Thanks for sharing. Were there by any chance dynos with the stock manifold? Does the mustang manifold require more valve overlap down low?
