Headers Help 17’ 5.0
#11
Thanks for all the reply’s. If I can expect 15-20 RWHP from a header upgrade then I would go for it, especially if it’s across the power band. The set I’m looking at is basically a bolt-in replacement so that means it will retain all the cats and won’t need a tune. Is this just a waste of time and money?

You have to delete the cats for solid gains. Otherwise it's minor gains (especially with drop in shorty headers).
You could go with high flow cats if you're not supercharged they shouldn't melt. They still won't pass emissions without defoulers but they should help you pick up power over stock cats.

If you are talking about the JBA cat4ward headers then I don’t think the gains will be there NA on a 15+ while still retaining the cats. The 15+ trucks have better cast manifolds then the 11-14 trucks, though they are still not as good as the actual tubular headers on the GT’s.
If if you do it, get a before and after dyno to document the gains as nobody else has.

cat delete picks up most of the gains when you're N/A.
I picked up 4 tenths in the 1/4 mile on an 11-14 mustang gt with a cat delete

I’m not supercharged, and I don’t race my truck. I just like to tinker with things. I may go ahead and pull the trigger with these in the upcoming weeks. I’m not sure where to go on Long Island for a before/after dyno. What could I expect to pay?

I paid $110 for 2 dyno pulls with datalogging.

If I do shorty's on my '18. I'll dyno it. I won't do long-tubes, but I am curious what they would be worth power-wise.
