Default Got some new toys for the strip

A friend got rid of his blown F150 a while back and had these collecting dust. I’m gonna slap 305/45/18 Nitto NT05R’s on the back and 265/50/18’s on the front. Tires are roughly 29” tall. I figure if I’m gonna run it at the track I’ll try to find some traction. The rear wheels were widened by Weldcraft to 9.5”. Can’t beat them for $free.50 and buying lunch.

I love how he widened the stock wheels lol....total sleeper status. Your truck 2wd? For some reason I thought it was 4x4.

Those are cool...You might throw a coat of Plasti-Dip on them so you don't look like a bling king at the strip.

Thinking about pulling the chrome cladding off and spraying them matte black. They don’t need to be pretty and that might shave about lb or 2 also.

Nah...I like more high speed stuff and curvy roads these days. I drag raced all over the country with a Pro Mod team for close to a decade...burned out on it. I figure I’ll see what she can do just for the hell of it when the weather cools off.

Decladded...now to have them sandblasted clean and coated matte black. They’re ugly...but they’re light. lol

Looking in that last pic, bottom right wheel. Is the cladding really 1/4" thick (or more)?

Man, that's a deal. Wouldn't forged be lighter though?

Why do those wheels look so terrible when stripped? It looks like they have a bunch of defects in the cast, main spot I can describe is by the valve stem on the main one in the above pic.
