Default Thank you! Great news.

Thanks for the update.
I will be putting everything I bought and learned to the ultimate test this weekend!
I'm really hoping the canned tune will do what I want. Namely a little increase in performance and a lot of improvement in the transmission.

I am told that SCT doesn't have all the required tables to control the 10 speed correctly, which pushes me toward HP Tuners / OZ. Also, after having the Omega tune, I could never stick with a single octane tune, (premium fuel costs 20% more up here, and at 40,000+ miles a year, I won't be feeding it primo too often just to get a few more hp)

I'm interested to hear about it. I think the trick to sorting out these truck is in the trans tuning, and I am sceptical that SCT can deliver on that.

Default Follow up!

Quick update!
i talked myself into adding a MaxflowMF exhaust system. I contacted 5 Star to get an idea of what they have available for my truck. I’ll post further details as the project evolves.
Anyone have any additional comments about their transmission tuning?

Where did you order the manifold from?

Haven't ordered it yet, I'm checking with local shops to see if I can get a better price for the Magnaflow MF series. I believe the part number is 19054.
If I can't beet it locally, I'll probably order it from American Trucks.

As far as I know, this is correct and it's why OZ uses HP Tuners on 2018+ trucks. HP has more tables in the software available to really dial-in the truck in.

Default Another update.

I ordered the Magnaflow MF (19054) from a local muffler shop. They quoted me $895 installed. I accepted.
I also cancelled the order for the SCT X4 tuner.
In place of that, I ordered the HP MPVi2 and two tunes. I'm being told this model is superior in tuning the 10 speed transmission, my immediate area of concern.

I think that is as far as I'm going to go with this truck. I'm not into racing, or any form of one up-man ship.
Just an old man with a nice truck.
Anyone have any experience with the MPVi2?

That exhaust should work well.

You made the right choice switching to HP Tuners.

I use the MPVi interface and the MPVi2 just more user friendly. It can work through Bluetooth wirelessly. It also uses universal credits instead of manufacturer specific ones. You can tune multiple vehicles as long as you purchase the credits. I plan on upgrading to the 2 this year.

Default Old man, with a young man's toy!

I'll find out this weekend. the MPVi2 should arrive Saturday and I plan on playing with it to familiarize myself with the process and procedures. I'll wait until the exhaust system is installed before I attempt to tune everything.
I joined the HP Tuner forum and asked a bunch of questions. Looking for as much help as I can get. I'm computer literate but far from a guru.
I also want to do some tinkering with FORScan. Going to be a busy weekend!
My wife thinks I lost my mind. And she may be right! Either that or I'm suffering from reverse Alzheimer's..
