I definitely have the 3.15 rear. It was listed on my window sticker as "3.15 rear axle (no charge)" and my Axle code is 15 on my door jam sticker.

Tuner itself locks to your VIN. But the custom tunes are done using your stock tune code. You don't have to give the tuner company your VIN. VIN wouldn't change the tune strategy you give the tuner. May not be the same as the stock tune you had from the factory either, if their was an update for your truck.

Update:
i got my 5* tunes loaded in today & played with the 89 performace/tow a bit. WOW! In the little driving I did after the tune I am sold. Going to burn through this tank of 89 & load up the 93 performance for the weekend, can't wait to see what that's like
