Question Custom Exhaust

2016 F150 5.0 Lariat 4X4 61,000 Miles

Looking at getting a custom exhaust made by a local shop. I have heard that there are 4 Cats on the 5.0?? If so, should I delete all 4 cats and install 2 high flow cats or just leave the cats? I am wanting a deep, aggressive, loud tone that pops and crackles when relieving under a load. Going on back towards the end of the system, I am wanting to install either dual Super 10s by Flowmaster or a single?? Any opinions would be appreciated.

Itll be loud with a super 10, theres no question there. The drone on the other hand will drive you crazy, even when trying to listen to music or talk on the phone. **Ask me how I know**

With the Super 10s alone or without cats?

Did you remove the cats?

I Had bought the full system from flowmaster. It was a full straight through design. I could have put stock cat back on but it was still way to loud for my taste. Took it off and sold it after being installed for less than a week. (And I like an aggressive sound).

Unless your local shop does mandrel bends, find an aftermarket exhaust system to put on. Crush bends are garbage.

Eliminating all cats=loud as hell and probably a check engine light too.

I bought a 3" in/ 3" out Borla XR-1 and had a custom exhaust shop swap it in place of the OEM muffler. Total cost was $220. One of my favorite mods. See my build thread for several videos.

the flange at the Y pipe is 2.5", if you cut the flange wider, you can put a piece of 3" on it and it will seal . I did mine like this, eliminating the resonator and a super 44 with stock tailpipe, it does have some drone but not to bad

I just installed the Stainless Works Performance Connect headers with high flow cats and Stainless Works Performance Connect Cat-back exhaust on my 2018 5.0 and there were only 2 factory cats. The 2016 might be different IDK but my guess would be that it is the same and only has 2 cats. As big as the factory cats are I don't see where you would put 4 of them.
