because they have different amounts of hp/tq delivered at different times in different ways...

yes the 5.0L has more PEAK hp...but not until later in the RPM range. The dyno curves of each are vastly different....The EB engines build quick and relatively level off some. while the V8 builds slower but slowly exceeds the 2.7L...So launching, the turbos will have a slight edge, but on the top end, the n/a V8 will get the edge.

that, and drivers, and the fact that both have a different launch, shift, WOT, strategy.

in the end, Like the above poster said:
You opened it!
Cause they are all Bad *** Fords!
Ford has designed these engines to be in the same performance range (1/2 ton pick-up engine) So they should all be relative close.

yep... different powerbands... the EB motors make similar power for much longer....

similar reason that cam only GM motors are usually slower than you would expect, big peak power at high rpm, but a turd under the curve. Same with your basic supras, slow as all get out for their power levels. 300whp through most of powerband, then peaks to 800whp for 900rpm. Woopty doooo.....

/end rant

What part of Michigan are you from and how far from Norwalk,Ohio are you?
Summit Motorsports Park in Norwalk,Ohio has a all Ford race next weekend July 8-10.I plan on going and maybe making a few passes in the Truck.IIRC Saturday and Sunday is only $1.00 for car and driver[that's right $1.00 not a misprint].

I was actually thinkin about going down for that race and stick the truck in true street just for fun. However the forecast isnt looking good at the moment for a good weekend.

Another important thing to remember is engine temperature, if your nlengine is at operating temps, it wont run as good as it would nice and cool, i wait about an hour between runs, open hood and let it cool down, thats why they sell the cooler thermostat as a performance mod
