Can a SCT X4 un-marry itself from a truck?
I have the SCT X4 from my old truck, 2014 Ecoboost. I want to sell it to a friend who just got a 12th gen F150 Ecoboost.
When I plug it into my desk top with a usb cable it says STATUS: unmarried. I had MPT tunes on it and I can't tell if they are still there. I plugged it into the OBD2 port on my 2017 and it says STATUS: unmarried. I clicked on Program Vehicle to see if the MPT tunes were still on it but it wouldn't show me. It just said Vehicle Not Supported. It would be nice if it did un-marry itself from my old truck so I could sell it to him and nobody would have to pay to get it un-married, but it doesn't seem possible? I haven't had a chance to plug it into his truck to see what it does. One other thing it said 5 flashes left.

If that's the case than that's good. I was planning on giving my friend a good deal on it, but if someone had to pay $150 to get it un-married than it's not such a good deal.
I'm still baffled about how it mysteriously un-married itself.

My truck is tuned and has been for several years, one day a while back I was doing something and noticed it said unmarried as well and I did not bring it back to the stock tune. After I get woke up good I'll go back out and look again.

When you return to stock, the programmer becomes unmarried.

The old X3 and X4 tuners could be unmarried and used on different vehicles several times before a reset was needed. The new BDX and GTX tuners aren't so lucky, and a reset fee is needed for each vehicle.
Any custom tunes you purchased for your old truck will be locked to a particular vehicles VIN and strategy code and will not be able to be used on another truck. So your buddy is gonna have to buy his own tunes, but he should be able to pair the device with his vehicle and tune it with either a new custom tune or any number of SCT canned tunes.

Is there a way for me to delete my MPT tunes from the device?
