Default Cams installed first impressions

2013 5.0 did Mustang GT intake side cams with billet OPG and billet Crank sprocket. Normal driving seems pretty much the same somehow kinda seems quieter while cruising at 65-70. Might just be in my head. Didn't even really get a chance to fire her up cold then hot to see if there's much of a difference in sound at all, didn't seem like there was anything noticeable. But up beyond about 5k they really show their superiority over the truck cams. It pulls much harder up top. All the way to 7500-7600 rpm. I will get a few logs over to MPT this weekend then do some dyno time and get a few more logs.

Also worth mentioning that the shop that installed the cams highly recommended that I swap the Boss intake for the 18 gt intake. Has anyone done this on a 12th gen? I could probably sell the boss and almost pay for an 18 GT intake. He said the peak numbers would be about the same but the 18 mustang intake would have higher hp and tq numbers throughout. Any insight is appreciated.

Your shop is not mistaken, the 18 GT intake seems to be the best "all around" performer. I think the Cobra Jet is still king for those revving to 8krpm, but for 0-7500, the 18 GT is probably the best choice, and is certainly better then the BOSS intake.

Maybe you misread or I wasn't quite clear, but I have the Boss and they believe I should swap to the 18 GT mani. Is this what you are also saying?

I'm not quite sure why he says the shop is wrong then?

You didn't see the "not" in my first sentence, "Your shop is not mistaken." Its just another way to say your shop is correct.

Ahhhhhhhh. I'll take attention to detail off my resume lol. So basically at the net cost of zero dollars in just a few hours taking the old one off and putting the new one on this is a pretty good upgrade I assume. Worth a few hundred dollars to have the 2018 mustang intake ported?
