Leaf springs weigh alot more than coil overs. You could also go to a mono leaf spring but you will lose the ability to haul stuff.

Perhaps a monoleaf...never thought of that. With coil overs then I would have to have ladder bars or something to keep the rear end in place. I'm not sure I want to spend that kind of money on a race suspension for a 5000lb truck...but a monoleaf...I could do that myself for practically nothing.

The good news is that at least your truck doesn't weigh 6140 lbs totally empty like mine. Mine will NEVER be fast.

Do you guys run with the tailgate off? I've seen "studies" both good and bad about this. I believe it weighs about 80-90 lbs? Funny enough I ran one time with it off and it was the only time I cut a sub 2.0 60ft... hardly a scientific study but maybe it helped?

I run with tailgate on, tonneau cover on, full tank of gas, empty car seats and strollers in the back, some leftover drinks and tacos in the front seat....
Not kidding either lol

I do see alot of trucks running with their tailgate off when i'm at the track though. Not sure how much it does or doesn't help though personally.

I usually run with 1/2 tank, no spare, and tailgate on. I'm going tomorrow (weather permitting) and will take the tailgate off and see if there is any difference in at all.
