They'll make it as mild/aggressive as you'd like.

Has SCT finally offered support for transmission tuning for the newer ecoboosts? If not you had better get the nGuage where 5star can tune both the engine and transmission!

Yes, they have offered support for quite awhile. I tuned my 2018 3.5 eco with an x4 using 5 star.

That's great! I still have my X4 and like it better than the nGuage because I can see which tune is loaded. The main advantage of the nguage is the tunes load in about half the time of the X4

Why not get tunes from both? The tuning device is the big expense and usually includes the tunes from the company you buy it through, then you just pay the other tuner $150 for a few of their tunes and you have both.

I have tunes from 4 companies now and spent a grand total of like $500, maybe a little more.

This is not a bad idea if the OP can swing the extra $100. Work with both get a good feeling for who has the truck dialed in better and maybe most importantly who is better at communicating and willing to show good customer service!

Drove the MPT 91 performance/Tow tune for several months. It’s never really felt “smooth” to me. Yes I did have some revisions made. Their 91PRX was fun to drive with but who wants to change tunes every time you need to Tow something?

Ordered a 91 Perf/Tow tune from 5star last night. Just have to wait for it to show up.

Interested in how you like it compared to MPT. I have been considering trying 5Star. Not unhappy with MPT, just wonder what 5star is like

I've had 5* and MPT for several years, started with 5*. I cannot complain about either one but I will add with MPT they purposely make the tow/haul switch a sort of performance switch, (think sport/touring mode) MPT has the over all more power true to their name but I wouldn't use that as a basis for decision between the two.

That tow/haul switch feature is what won me over. Been running an MPT 93 race tune as a DD for years now and have no plan to change unless I travel and the octane available isn't there. Not everyone has the same octanes at the pumps so I have several. Top 4 are 5* bottom 2 are MPT.

What ever you do don't waste any $$ on an economy tune, several of us have gone that route and it's an overwhelming fail.
