5.0 Street/Strip Builds
Who out there has put together (or started) a street racing/drag strip racing F150? I don't see it covered often on here, and the topic only seems to come up around superchargers. Obviously FI is going to add globs of power, but has anyone had any success with bolt ons that added more power, or other modifications? Stock, these trucks seem pretty capable. My SCAB with 3.73s has had some fun with a Charger R/T and a WRX so far. I didn't really have any plans to change the exhaust or cai, because the gains seem negligible. Just interested to see what everyone's take is on this.

A tune helps quite a bit, beyond that Superchargers are very safe with canned tunes. On3 Performance is releasing a twin turbo kit later this summer for the 11-14 5.0's, and the 15-17's should follow. I've been resisting the urge to boost my 13, because I'm contemplating trading for an 18 to get the improvements. Still hoping ford does a performance street truck in house. A new Lighting is what I really want.....

Subscribing... contrary to popular belief, tunes do add a lot of performance to these. I'm also really interested in seeing a mustang intake cam swap. They are only $140 for the pair and dyno results have shown 40 hp. I would imagine a RCSB 4x4 with cams, tune, and converter would have an awesome hole shot and run well into the 12's for not a lot invested.

So yeah Ford hasn't pushed with a true sport truck since the lightning. I have a whipple for it, waiting impatiently for Lund tuning(unavailable for '17s atm). There are a few of us who miss the old lightning.

It actually has been covered (and argued) since the engine debuted in '11. The 5.0 doesnt get enough extra power from simple Bolt ons to be a serious Street/Strip vehicle (of course that definition is subjective). Just look at the 1/4 mile times posted. Of course its a very capable platform for more significant building just dont expect large improvements with in expensive Bolt ons - takes a lot more power to move a full size truck faster.

I actually do not. Are you running the whipple tune? I ordered the kit from Lethal bc it was cheaper, and they responded quicker than whipple.(which I reached out to first) I thought a tune would be available sooner and plan to overnight my computer to whipple tomorrow. I believe I may have assumed wrong.

I run the whipple tune. Did you consider the getting the flare tool and doing it yourself? There are several advantages in doing it this way. Btw, the whipple 2015-2017 tunes are all built on the 2017 os and all the same.
