Default 5.0 performance upgrades

Just had a local shop install a full borla exhaust on my 5.0 and it sounds good. Had the pedal commander overnighted and put on a k&n cai. This thing def opened up. I launched it in 4×4 and destroyed my ecoboost off the line and don't even need the drag radials. With the tuner and bigger intercooler on the ecoboost I think it will run 12.8-13.1.. This 5.0 has got to run a 13.5-13.7 with just exhaust, cai, and pedal commander. Mostly because you can launch the sh^t out of it in 4×4. I'm able to pull 3 trucks from 0-20mph on my ecoboost. The ecoboosts went 14.0 stock and this 5.0 def gets to the quarter quicker now. I def can see the guy pulling 13.2 in the 18' rcsb now.

Im gad you came around.. These 5.0's run. I can tell you from 40 years of racing mine is definitely a 13.7 truck. Now, get a tune.. I hear its like night and day after a tune on a 5.0. I know on my Old Mustang GT it made a HUGE difference.

Sounds like pedal commander overrides the torque management done through throttle position lol.

I test drove an 18 5.0, and was very disappointed in the power it had. On the highway she had tons of power, but not around town. They have down tuned the crap out of the throttle response to make those EPA numbers.

Drove a friends 18 that had a tune and the pedal commander, and it was like night and day. Honestly my 08 5.4 seemed faster than the stock 18 5.0. But the tuned PC'd one would smoke mine.

BTW- an exhaust system does not do much as the factory resonator AND muffler on my 15 is a straight thru design so the factory exhaust flows great as it is and adftermarket system may make it sound sweet but does little performance wise, Unless you go huge pipe size..

I looked at them...for $300 I’ll wait till after the Whipple to decide if it’s really worth it.

I know, $300 seems expensive so I searched and found a used on ebay for $150 shipped. After installing it I would have happily paid $300. I actually leave it on eco mode to make the pedal soft. Great for driving to and from work. Gas mileage is a tiny bit better because Im not jumping off the line like I did with the factory tune. Make the truck so much more fun to drive.
