Default 3.5ecoboost vs supercharged 5.0

Hi all, new to the forum. Currently have a 3.5L ecoboost that I have tuned (MPT) and running E30, I love the truck but want more power, I take it to the strip often and do consistent 13-13.2 with a 12.996 being my best. I was going to go water meth to get more out of it then read some data on supercharging the 5.0 and people getting into the 11's. I am in Boise Idaho at 2700 ft roughly. Any feedback and people running the 5.0 with a whipple or VMP breaking into the 11s with a similar DA?

Considering just trading it in. (I have an evo that I autocross with, no room or desire for a straight up drag car).

Thanks for any input!

You are talking about a lot of money....new truck + $8000 or so for the supercharger (not including install if you don't do it yourself). You'll still need a custom tune, as none of the canned tuned with the superchargers will run 11's.

You still have a lot of headroom with your ecoboost, certainly enough to get deep into the 12's. I wouldn't throw it away just yet.

Ty for the input, what more can be done to the ecoboost? According to MPT the only thing left on the plate for me is water meth. I have a tstat, intercooler and an E30 tune, Would love to run a higher Ethanol content too, we have true E-85 here. I have not seen any good turbo solutions. Thanks for any feedback!

What year is your truck?
5 Star is breaking records right now with basically tune only ecoboost and na V8's
Really depends on year of your truck.

Mine is a 2017, is tuned by more power tuning.

Logical people can't argue against a Whippled 5.0 having more upside potential than a 3.5 eco. I would do a 2018 5.0 and Whipple if I was willing to give up my 2012 Centennial Grand Sport Corvette convertible and only have one vehicle. I am completely satisfied with the power level of my 5-Star tuned 2015 3.5 eco; it easily does whatever I task it to do.

Try a different tuning company, Tunes are cheap for what you get. 5 star has an e50 tune for your truck that is blowing away the competition. I used to run to MPT and they are good but much prefer the all-around drivability, shifting, tip in and power of my 5 star.

I know a few guys running their e50 tune, tune only trucks, in the low 12's

Your truck is going really slow for the mods you currently have. With the weather as good as it is right now i would expect you to run mid or low 12's, not 12.9-13.2's like you are.

What is your trap speed?

I'm running 12.20's right now with basically the same thing's done that you have.

Trap is 101-104 range. Two variables that may play in, I am at 2700 feet and have 20" wheels, street tires on it though, General Grabber UHP's at 30psi. Speaking of which, any wheel/tire combo suggestions would be welcome.

You're in Louisiana which I suspect is why you're getting such ET's, that elevation makes a big difference. Who tuned yours?

Thanks for the input!

2700 ft, So DA probably 3-4000 ft? You should be trapping at least 106-108 mph with your mods despite the altitude. That should get you a 12.50 with grip.
