Wouldn't an aluminum tube be more prone to heat soak?

According to Cody, our current tube will not work with the new Airbox. Thus we need the new tube.

I don't think aluminum heat soaks much if at all, its such a awesome dissipator of heat (ever try to weld it). I think of all the CAC tubing on the 6.0s, it was all aluminum and was very heat conscious given the intercoolers job. My problem is just getting the piece made. I thought about getting some tube and dong the cut and weld thing... but I don't want all the welds, I would want it mandrel bent. Don't have any resources that can do that for me.

Did you close yours? Why? The way the hood is shaped, I don't see how you would get more airflow or cooler? I'm thinking about getting a Shelby style -Fiberglass hood, the one with the open scoop across front of hood, with the metal grate. I just have to keep searching in this forum. My truck needs to lose weight. Is it 50 lbs lost = 10HP gain? My CAI itlooks like the open box one but doesn't have the front scoop or tube just a hole in the side of the box.

it's a great dissipator of heat, but that's because it absorbs heat. It absolutely heat soaks way worse than a composite tube would, it's incapable of doing anything but getting hot as hell. That being said it probably won't matter much, it's just an inlet tube.

Not yet, I've stop spending money until I get some of the parts I've already bought installed, namely the exhaust. Wonder why you don't have the front scoop, who did your install?

I've noticed that Dorain, (BoostedF150) has the new style CAI.

I agree Shelby hood seems like good option for keeping under hood temps under control, I'm pretty sure that 2016BoostedGrayGoose has that hood on his truck.

I have been considering the rksport for exactly that reason. Looks to do a good job extracting heat with a little less attitude.
