Fair enough, thanks for the insight.

I have seen some back and forth on the powered fans. I live out in Texas and it’s obvious super hot sitting in traffic during the summers. I’m happy to remote the shutters to allow for them to clear, but I saw some mention that the blades when they are not running may hurt during normal driving. Are the factory pullers enough?

I just got the shipping notification from Whipple and the SC kit is arriving next Thursday. I to have been lurking for a while and this thread is one of the reasons I decided to do the install myself. Whipple’s instructions are decent, but those along with this great write-up will make the work a lot easier.

I also asked them a few days ago about the new closed airbox and according to Mike at Whipple his email said “Only reason it was made was for emissions purposes. Flow, temps, power are all the same” So, I didn’t get it - at least for now.

Can’t wait to get this project started. I will be referring to this write-up the entire time. Thank you OCMike for the time it took to do this.

If you can, add the fans. Easier to install now then later, and being in Texas (I'm in Texas as well), you are going to want them. Heat soak is a major issue with PD blowers, so all the cooling you can add is a good thing.

Does the Whipple kit come with a lower temperature thermostat?

You are probably correct. It gets hot in South Florida, may have to add the closed box and possibly fans later. I will have to keep an eye on the IAT temps and see where they go.

Does the Whipple open top box not seal to the hood?

You can install the fans pretty cheap if you use the ones on Amazon like I did. In your case you could use the 10" fans since you will have the larger LTR. I have a thread in this section with detailed instructions on how to wire it and parts needed. Just search under my user name.

Mine work great even with the smaller LTR. I turn them off when it gets cooler outside and they don't seem to affect the cooling at all with them off.

It is easier to do them now rather than having to take the grille back off like I did.

It's suppose to but doesn't very well. IMO the weakest part of a Whipple install.

Glad they did something about it.
