Default 2018 performance parts info

I purchased a new f150 xlt 4x4 5.0 w/3.55 gears on 2/28, and am now looking at performance parts to save up for. I found the Whipple kit but have never driven a supercharged truck. I love the pull of a turbo. my wife has a 2014 f250 4x4 with a deleted and tuned 6.7 powerstroke. I saw Hellion has a turbo kit for the 2018 5.0 and have thought about making my own with a single s472sxe, but I have read that tuning on the newer trucks is a pain. since I am a pipeline welding inspector I need my truck, and can not deal with a lot of downtime. So this is my question. Has anyone done a turbo setup or received their whipple kit and installed it yet? I understand the difference between how the boost comes on but does the whipple keep pulling through the rpm range or does it feel like a kick in the rear then just cruise? How hard is it to catch traction with the whipple?

Gen 3 Whipple here...it’s instant torque and it doesn’t stop pulling. They have a phenomenal top end.
A turbo will almost always make more power with less boost but if you’re looking for something to install in one day with a buddy the Whipple is the way to go.

Everything above is true. The old screw and pd superchargers hit hard on bottom then fell off on top. These new ones don't fall off. My truck hit 520 ftlb peak torque and made over 510 all the way to 6600 rpm.

ok, thank y'all. The Whipple kit looks like the best performance upgrade I have found. This 2018 is pretty quick for a stock vehicle.

if anyone installs a whipple on a 2018 model let me know how things turn out. I know what whipple has published from the other threads, but would love to see an independent review from an owner. I do not have much time to search and stay caught up on here due to work and family, but I certainly appreciate the feedback.

Mike that sure is a nice truck. I enjoyed your thread from after the install.

My Truck is a 18 SCSB 3.73 Platinum 4x4
Whipple Gen 3,132 mm Throttle body-oil catch can
I am picking it up today from Collin at Integrated Racing in Seffner Florida
My install is complete,it Dino’ed 502hp at 5000rpm in 7th gear then the speed limiter kicked inn
The whipple tune retains the speed limiter
Waiting on Palmbeach Dyno to perfect there 2018 tune
I will let you know how it behaves on its 100 mi trip home
I have never driven a blown gas vehicle either, plenty of diesels, plenty of hot rods
Hennessy Venm600 Viper,Superformance AC cobra replica with a crate 460 Tremec 5 sp

I have always wanted to drive one of those panteras. just thought they were a cool car. I saw one online once that had a twin turbo 440 in it.

well I heard they had steering issues due to being a true rear engine design but they look like fun

The Ring Brothers built Pantera is hands down the most beautiful car I’ve ever seen.
